Manipulator of dead spirits who uses death as fuel.
Complexity on the rulebook scale: Medium. That is a learning label, not a power rank.
Shadow engine and attack origins
Editorial recommendation: secure a usable shadow before selecting attacks that need one. Fluid Night cannot become a plain Attack 5 by skipping its shadow requirement, and Strength of the Abyss cannot remove a shadow used by the same action it modifies.
For an attack performed as if occupying a shadow hex, measure targeting, line of sight and push/pull from that shadow. Retaliate is the exception: it reaches the Deathwalker only if her actual figure is within retaliation range.
Call of the Abyss marks only one enemy at a time. Objectives are destroyed rather than killed and therefore do not create shadows. Coordinate kill targets with allies instead of assuming every disappearing enemy will fuel the engine.
- Shadows cannot open doors or enter unrevealed rooms.
- Shadow-origin attacks without a range value are melee attacks; a printed range makes an attack ranged.
- A shadow-origin aura bonus depends on the shadow being in the aura, not the Deathwalker.
- The second-printing board clarifies shadow self-adjacency and moving shadows when scenario rules move summons to a new tile.
