Frosthaven rules FAQ

Updated

Board game: these answers distinguish movement, targeting and action timing. The live official FAQ is the /frosthaven-faq/ project, not the bare GitHub Pages domain.

Chapters

Printing corrections correspond to FAQ 1; personal quests to 3.2; outpost buildings to 4; monsters to 6; scenario rulings to 7; class mechanics to 8; items to 9.

An action can contain several abilities. An item granting its own ability cannot normally be inserted into the middle of another ability. Finish that ability before using the new one; do not infer legality from an animation or a card's physical position.

Questions

Is the old FAQ link dead?

The root cephalofairgames.github.io path 404s. The /frosthaven-faq/ path is the working official FAQ.

Can you teleport while immobilized?

Yes, Immobilize only prevents Move abilities, while Teleport is explicitly not a Move ability. The destination must still be legal. This follows rulebook pages 24 and 29; Stun is a different restriction and does not permit you to perform a Teleport ability.

Does Banner Spear's Boldening Blow hit every red hex?

No. FAQ 8.3 says it attacks and disarms one enemy. Its red-hex diagram provides the formation requirement, not an attack on every depicted hex.

Can an empty hex contain a loot token or Deathwalker shadow?

Yes. Tokens do not make a hex non-empty. Figures and overlay tiles do; the exact distinction from featureless is in FAQ 5.1.

Can I control a summon's movement freely?

Not by default. Summons follow automated monster-style focus and movement. In ambiguous equal choices the party decides, but cannot ignore the movement rules. See the Boneshaper guide for door-opening and summon-specific rulings.

Do spent multi-use item slots all reset on a long rest?

Yes, spent items with use slots reset their slots on a long rest. Lost items do not refresh that way. See official FAQ 9 and the item's own timing restriction.
